First Couple Weeks

Well we've had about 3 weeks of school and 6ish meetings. We started to design the robot, since we have two robots we are trying to come up with a pair of robots that work best when they are on the same team. We thought of making a offencive and defensive robot, so one robot that can block and the other one would score. We decided that this idea would fail since the triangular goals would ultimatly keep the blocking robot from blocking efficently. The design for the blocking robot was pretty cool though. We thought of a box that could unfold to create a 90" wall that would be raised to 20 inches high, and there was some discousion wether we could add a structure to the top to make it even taller so it would have a final high of 24" or so inches. We have a engineering class that is helping us with the robot's design and build, awesome =D. We've also been watching all the videos from the new zealand matches to get idea and have some other great one's.

New Robot Design

The new competition this year will be a engineering challenge since the competition involves the picking up of Nerf footballs, 3inch balls, and a basketball. These Nerf balls have a variety of sizes which makes it important to be able to pick up all the different types, but they are slightly compressible which should make the balls easier to grab.

Programing Breakthrough

We have been able to control all censors with and without the transmitter with the new program, this is a major breakthrough! Now we do not have to worry about which sensors we can use but how to build the robot and use the sensors.

Programming

We are currently trying to perfect our way of programming to make this year’s robot unstoppable. This year we will try to not only get the programming award in both Vex and UsFirst but also win a local competition and go to the national finals. Many times in the last rounds of our competitions we lost due to a programming error. Our new method of programming should create a more reliable robot with more control.

New Robotics Season

Hey everyone, we haven't been posting in a very long time, but we're back for the new season of robotics. Last year we received a large grant from Lockheed-Martin and our school, so we bought the new FTC robot. It's all metal and really great to build with. We did a couple tournaments last year got a couple 3rd place finishes with our VEX robot and received a Programing award for our autonomous mode. With our FTC robot we did two events and did decent in the first one and we went undefeated until the final match for the second tournament. We were nominees for the all-around-excellence award in the second tournament too!! We have started to update the blog, we have some new member in our team, the 10' team consists of Tad, Sven, Alex, and Erik. We have some other member that show up to our builds every once in a while. Some of our team left us because they were seniors. Aaron, Donnie, George, Andrew we wish all goes well for you in college. We hope this year will be better than our last. This is the Programing award, and the signatures of the team.
